Mediterranean Diet: The Lifestyle of Choice and Easy to Incorporate

For the last two or three years, the Mediterranean Diet has been the diet of choice. The Mediterranean Diet reflects a way of eating that is traditional in the countries that surround the Mediterranean and it is not really a diet, but a lifestyle encouraging you to eat from all food groups. Food having more health benefits are highlighted more. There is an emphasis on plants: fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, and seeds.

 


Why This Lifestyle?

  • Promotes healthy weight loss
  • Improves brain health (likelihood of dementia & depression decrease)
  • Reduces cholesterol
  • Reduces heart disease

Studies have found that along with the benefits listed above, this diet can also slow down the aging process and is also good for your gut. It is found to be an easy diet to stick to because it is not overly restrictive and having red wine on the menu does not hurt either.
